After Sara had committed me to my first date with Todd, she decided we needed to find me an outfit to wear, rather than try to find something of hers to fit me. "That will give us clothes to swap and share like real sisters," she giggled. Yeah, right, like I was going to do this again, IF I survived tonight! We went into several of the smaller shops in the mall and looked at skirts and tops and dresses. At least lots of things were on sale so it wasn't going to cost much. The hard part was going into the changing rooms. I managed to get most things on and off without a lot of trouble. I don't see how girls do all this stuff everyday. The hardest thing was reaching zippers on the backs of dresses.
Lisa picked out one blouse that buttoned in the back. "Maybe this will keep Todd's hands from getting too adventurous," she said. Boy, this was getting scarier by the minute. What had I gotten myself into? I tried this on with Sara's help and added a pair of black jeans. "This is perfect for a casual first date," said Sara, "but we still need a few more things. First we need a different pair of shoes. And we need a tight control brief to help keep you tucked in." We went to a self-service store for the shoes and bought a pair of black sandals with ankle straps and two-inch stacked heels. These were actually easier to walk in than the ones I was wearing. Sara picked out a black medium control brief with a high waist cuff. "This will help make you waist a little smaller and make you hips stand out a little more," she said.
"Let's stop back in the Boutique and look for some different earrings a little dressier for tonight," Sara said, "I think Lisa is working know and she should be able to help us."
We got our bags and headed back down the mall. By this time I was walking much better in the heels and went into the jewelry shop like I was right at home
Sara told me to sit down in the chair while she and Linda looked for something appropriate. They came back a few minutes later with a few things in their hands. "Close you eyes, we don't want you to see these until they are on," Sara said. I felt Linda touch my left ear and then felt a sharp pain. I reached for my ear and before I knew it the same thing happened to my other ear. "Don't worry, lots of guys are having both ears pierced these days," she said, " and these are only little posts with mother of pearl hearts." This was really getting out of control. Things were happening to fast to be able to think. But in reality, I didn't want it to stop, either. I didn't know what to do.
We got home about 5:30 and Sara immediately started pushing me to get ready. I had never been able to understand why it always took girls so long to get ready to go somewhere. I guess I was about to find out.
First, she wanted to redo my hair. So it was back into curlers and waiting for them to dry. next it was taking the pink nail polish off and putting on a darker plum color. While mine were drying, Sara redid her nails as well in a rose color. The whole time she talked about different clothes she thought I would look good in, or how I might want to try a different hair style. I kept trying to tell her that this was a one time thing and I would never do it again. This didn't seem to matter to her and she kept right on. I think she enjoyed having a sister after all these years of being the only girl in the house.
She was just finishing buttoning my top when the doorbell rang. My heart started racing and I thought it was going to jump out of my mouth. All I could do was sit down on the bed. My legs were too weak to stand. Sara told me to wait here while she let Todd in. "You never want to seem too anxious," she said, "especially on the first date." She ran down the stairs to open the door. I kept telling myself that this would be the first and only date.
Sara called up the stairs, "Michelle, Todd is here." I still had trouble making myself move, but I finally managed to get up, put on my shoes and head for the stairs. I walked down the stairs slowly, more to keep from falling off my heels than in making an entrance. As I got to the bottom, I heard Todd say, "Wow, you look great, Michelle!" I immediately blushed and started to stammer again. "Gee, thanks, Todd," I said quietly. Sara handed me a purse and said, "I guess we should be going, Jack will be waiting for us."
With that we were out the door. Todd's car was a sport coupe and was really small. He opened the door, pulled the seat up and let Sara get in the back. I got in the front and he closed the door. At least there was a console and shifter between us. This may not be too bad after all. While he was walking around the other side, Sara said, "Just relax and have fun." Todd got in, gave me a big smile, and drove off.
When we got to Jack's house, he insisted on driving so we switched cars. I didn't like that because now I was going to be in the back seat with Todd. I may have only been fifteen, but I knew what went on in the back seats of cars on dates. He opened the door for me and slid in next to me. Right next to me. What was I going to do now.
Jack started driving and ask what movie we wanted to see. Neither of us had a suggestion so Sara had to pop up with a bright idea. "Why don't we go see the new move at the Valley Drive-in. We can get some pizza there and not have to go anywhere else."
So, here I was in the back seat of a car with a boy on the way to the drive-in. I was so nervous I couldn't hear anything else that was being said. And now I felt Todd's hand sliding around my shoulders! God, this can't really be happening to me. I'm going to wake up any minute and be back in my room like I was yesterday, a normal boy doing normal things.
Then I felt a light kiss on my cheek. My stomach turned a flop. I thought I would throw up any second. I turned toward Todd to tell him to stop when he kissed me softly on the lips. All of a sudden, I was melting. It was like I had left my body. Everything was spinning. It wasn't a deep or probing kiss, no tongue or anything. But I couldn't make myself pull away. His arm around me pulled me closer and the kiss got hotter. I finally managed to pull away and take a breath. My heart was beating so quickly I thought it was going to burst. I looked to the front and saw Sara looking back at me smiling, mouthing, "way to go, Little Sister!" All I could do was cuddle into Todd's shoulder and smile right back at her.
To be continued....
